Day 2 - Lisu Market -Caves – Long Necked village – Mae Hong Son

Then we will make a stop at a Lisu tribal market which has a beautiful scenic viewpoint before going to the Pang Ma Pah district to visit Lod Cave and enjoy some bamboo rafting. Nestled in the hills between Pai and Maehongson near Soppong, is Lod Cave. Also known as Tham Lot, this cave is home to large numbers of bats and swifts and is filled with stalactites and stalagmites. In Tham Lot, and other caves nearby, teakwood coffins have been discovered which are thought to have been carved by the Lawa tribespeople thousands of years ago. An interesting feature of the Lod Cave is the Nam Lang River, which flows through it. Your trip starts by boarding a bamboo raft that takes you into the cave where you can explore 3 different caves inside. Upon exiting the cave you will reboard the raft and where you can feed the large schools of fish that surround you. You will be given the option to purchase a local tour guide which we highly recommend. The guide will carry a gas powered lamp that creates plenty of light for you to see and photograph the beauty of this cave. Then take 1 hour drive to Phu klon which literally means “mud source and natural mineral spring” and enjoy the feeling of the cool mud painted on your body. In the afternoon, we will drive to a pier where you can enjoy a boat ride near the Burmese Border to visit the Padong tribe. The Padong is a group of Karen who elongate their necks using brass rings.
